THERMOLESION AND NEUROMODULATION
Thermolesion involves disconnection of the nerves using high-frequency waves (RFA – Ratio Frequency Ablation). These waves, supplied to the nerve tissue through an electrode, destroy tissue within a few millimetres radius. This is a fully safe procedure, performed under local anaesthesia (without putting a patient to sleep), in the operational room, under X-ray monitoring.
Thermolesion has been scientifically proved to be highly effective in treating paraspinal joint pains. It has a low number of side effects. Thermolesion is effective among patients with cervical, chest and lumbar spine pains.
If a nerve cannot be destroyed through thermolesion, we use its variation – pulsatile thermolesion (NEUROMODULATION), which aims at temporary disconnection of conduction in a nerve. Method is effective in treatment of a sciatica, neuropathic pain, neck-based headaches.
The results are noticeable after 3-4 weeks.
Thermolesions and neuromodulations are performed in the Carolina Medical Center.
