How can I make an appointment at Carolina or Optimum Hospital?

You can make an appointment:

  • directly at the facility.

You can also send us an e-mail to: international@carolina.pl specifying which appointment you would like to book, your phone number and the language you speak and we will contact you to arrange a visit in our clinic.

What diagnostic tests are available without a doctor’s referral?

You can make an appointment without doctor’s referral for:

  • MRI (without contrast)
  • Ultrasound

All other tests (CT, X-ray and MRI with contrast) require referral which must be issued by a doctor registered in Polish health system.

Where should you go for diagnostic testing?

Our Diagnostic Imaging Center is located at the ground floor. Before testing, please report to the reception to complete the formalities.

Where to report for blood test?

Laboratory tests are performed on the second floor. Before collection, please report to the Polyclinic reception to complete the formalities.

When and how will I receive my medical records?

Patient who underwent surgery will receive a hospital information card together with medical recommendations and prescriptions for medications upon discharge. All other medical documentation (descriptions of consultations, rehabilitation reports) is hand out at the Patient’s request. Documentation is prepared in Polish language as required by law, but it can be translated by a professional translation company for the extra cost. After submitting the application, the waiting time is a maximum of 14 days. When the medical documentation is ready for collection, we inform the Patient by text message.

Medical documentation can be delivered via e-mail or sent by registered mail. Simply fill out the form which is available to download on our website https://carolina.pl/en/files-to-download/ or call the Helpline (+48 22 35 58 200) to request your documentation by phone.

Documentation can also be collected in person from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Medical Documentation Department (2nd floor) in our facility.

Do I need a referral for rehabilitation?

Rehabilitation at Carolina Hospital does not usually require a referral. It is only necessary for patients after surgery and for insured patients who want their insurer to pay directly to the hospital.

Can my insurer pay for treatment at Carolina and Optimum Hospital?

We have signed direct payment agreements with many foreign insurers. This means that patients with insurance in these companies are accepted cashless. You can find a list of companies and information about the rules of cooperation here https://carolina.pl/en/privately-insured-patients/

If your insurer is not on the list, you can always ask him directly if he would be willing to pay for your treatment. We accept guarantees of payment from different insurers.

Can I use Carolina and Optimum services for free under national insurance?

Carolina and Optimum are private hospitals and do not accept European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC). Patients should first pay at the counter and then reclaim based on EU Directive 2011/24/EU1 on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, which came into force on 24 April 2011. It was due to be transposed by Member States by 25 October 2013. It clarifies the rights of patients to seek reimbursement for healthcare received in another Member State.

How can I pay for treatment at Carolina and Optimum Hospital?

We accept payments by bank cards, bank transfers and cash in Polish currency.

Is there parking at the Warsaw location?

There is a covered car park on the hospital premises, as well as a paid municipal car park nearby.

Is there a restaurant on the hospital premises?

There is a restaurant on the 1st floor, and a vending machine with hot and cold drinks and snacks on the ground floor and 2nd floor.

Can my family stay with me in the hospital?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate the patient’s family. The exceptions are children, with whom one family member can stay in the hospital overnight.

Do you offer visa assistance?

Unfortunately, the hospital is not able to arrange a visa for anyone, this is a responsibility of an applicant. The hospital will not issue an invitation letter. We would, however, prepare a confirmation of booked visit printed out from our system. If you need a visa to Poland, you must apply for a visa in the Polish consulate.
