About me

I diagnose and treat

  • Diseases of the pharynx, larynx (hoarseness and aphonia, sensation of an obstruction, pain, dryness, scratching or burning in the throat and larynx, cough, vocal nodules, laryngeal polyps and cysts) and ears
  • Voice disorders after overuse of the larynx
  • Voice and breathing disorders in laryngeal paralysis, e.g. after thyroid or cervical spine operations
  • Mutational disorders

 

I provide rehabilitation for speaking and singing voice disorders, including professional dysphonias – using my own Rhythmic-Movement Voice Rehabilitation method and other techniques, including LaxVox and the Accent Method.

I deal with prevention and certification of the condition of the voice organ.

  • For people who use their voice professionally (singers, vocalists, actors, journalists, lecturers, teachers, clergy)
  • Assessment of suitability for occupations involving vocal strain
  • Assessment of the voice organ before starting singing lessons and during voice training, including determining the anatomical predispositions for a particular type of singing voice
  • Issuing mutation certificates

Examinations performed

  • Endoscopic examination of the larynx
  • Videostroboscopic assessment of vocal fold movement
  • Nasofibroscopic assessment of the anatomy and function of the larynx and vocal tract
  • Voice emission assessment

Education

  • A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical Academy of Białystok (1988)
  • Doctoral dissertation “Electrolaryngographic method of examining laryngeal phonatory function in physiological and pathological conditions” (defended in 2000)

Professional experience

  • Long-standing researcher and lecturer at the Chair of Audiology and Phoniatrics of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music
  • Clinical work at specialist laryngological and phoniatric clinics
  • Many years of experience in treating people who use their voice professionally

Author of many publications in the field of phoniatrics, including the book “Voice Emission – A Methodological Compendium” and the chapters “Physiological Foundations of Prosody” and “Rhythmic-Movement Voice Rehabilitation – a programme for teaching voice emission and therapy of voice disorders with elements of the Accent Method” in “Logopedia XXI Wieku”
